Where the OM1300 fits

  • A branch or small office where we need console access to the FortiGate and a few switches, plus Ethernet out-of-band access to devices without a serial console.
  • A site without a second circuit: the -C models carry their own 5G/LTE link.

Need more than 8 console ports, 10G uplinks or a 24-port out-of-band switch? Step up to the CM8100 or OM2200. Opengear OM1300 datasheet.

Which model for a FortiGate branch site?

Usually the OM1304-4E-C. Its four console ports reach the FortiGate and up to three switches, its four switched gigabit ports put the FortiGate MGMT port and the switches’ management ports on the out-of-band network, and its 5G modem keeps that path off the site’s internet circuit. If console access is all the site needs, the CM8004-C costs less. For five to eight console connections, use the OM1308-8E-C. For more than eight, see the model chooser. We confirm the model when we scope the site.

Drawing: an Opengear OM1304-4E-C in a branch rack. Amber serial console cables run from its serial ports 1 to 3 to the console ports of the FortiGate and two switches. Blue Ethernet runs from its switch ports 1 to 3 to the FortiGate MGMT port and the switches' management ports. A dashed 5G link connects it to a cellular carrier separate from the site's internet circuit, and the engineer reaches it over a VPN tunnel.Drawing: an Opengear OM1304-4E-C in a branch rack. What the drawing shows

  • Serial 1, 2 and 3 go to the console ports of the FortiGate and both switches, so we see boot messages and recovery menus.
  • Switch ports 1, 2 and 3 put the FortiGate MGMT port and the switches’ management ports on the out-of-band network.
  • The 5G modem gives the unit its own path, separate from the site’s internet circuit.
  • The engineer connects through Lighthouse or the unit’s own web interface over an encrypted tunnel.

OM1300 questions

How much does the Opengear OM1300 cost?

List prices run from $1,849 to $3,149 for the hardware, per Opengear’s price list effective October 26, 2026. One year of Opengear Foundation support (OG-FNTS-OM1300-1YR) is $359 list price. Cellular models also need a data plan. We confirm the exact price when we quote.

Which OM1300 model do we need?

Count the console ports you need to reach, decide whether the site needs its own cellular link, and check the uplink. We do that with you when we scope the site and put the exact part number on the quote.

Can you install and manage the OM1300?

Yes. We stage the configuration, ship the unit to your site and connect it during the install; installation is quoted after scoping. See out-of-band management for how it fits a managed FortiGate site.
