Cambium Network Rescue · Decision Guide

cnMaestro Cloud after October 31.
Your four options, compared honestly.

Updated 2026-10-19 · By Jeff Johnson, Ambio Edge Networks

Update 2026-10-19: Univastu completed its purchase of Cambium’s ePMP and Enterprise businesses and cnMaestro on 2026-10-14, and Cambium now says cnMaestro Cloud “will continue to operate on a go-forward basis.” It follows the earlier commitment “through at least October 2026”, which is why we had used 2026-10-31 as a planning date. There is no published deadline to beat now. What you don’t have yet is the new owner’s support, licensing and service terms. Cambium also hasn’t withdrawn in writing its earlier warning that the cloud “may not support Enterprise devices post the end of October, 2026.” Your access points and radios are not the problem; the problem is the management plane, the dashboard you use to configure, upgrade and see them. You have four ways to handle it, and the right one can differ per product line.

Status as of 2026-10-19

Where cnMaestro stands, by product line.

The full timeline lives on the Cambium Networks administration page. For which company now owns each line, see Airspan and Cambium: who owns each product line.

  • Administration. Cambium Networks Limited (UK) entered administration, a UK insolvency process, on 2026-09-14. RSM UK Restructuring Advisory LLP was appointed (SEC 8-K, 2026-09-14).
  • Airspan lines. Airspan bought the defense business and several fixed-wireless lines on 2026-09-22, including PMP 450, PTP 670/700/450i/450V, cnWave, cnReach, cnHeat and LINKPlanner, for US$27.5M cash plus up to US$7.5M more (8-K filed 2026-09-28). Airspan’s release is dated 2026-09-23. For those lines Airspan says “no plan to discontinue cnMaestro” and promises continued support in cnMaestro cloud and on-premises (Airspan FAQ v6, 2026-10-05). The 8-K says Cambium kept the cnMaestro software and licensed it to Airspan.
  • Lines Airspan did not buy. ePMP, enterprise Wi-Fi, cnMatrix, NSE, and PTP 820/850 licensed microwave. ePMP and the Enterprise Wi-Fi and switching business went with the Univastu purchase below; neither announcement names the NSE gateways. Airspan says PTP 820/850 is “in discussions with the OEM supplier of the PTP 820/850” (Airspan FAQ v6).
  • Univastu. Completed its purchase on 2026-10-14 (Cambium announcement, 2026-10-15): the ePMP and Enterprise businesses and cnMaestro. Cambium Networks runs as a standalone Univastu subsidiary and says it will “immediately move to resume production.” Univastu’s 2026-09-30 NSE filing described a US$5.1M cost of acquisition through Univastu UK Ltd; the final price and a per-model list haven’t been published.
  • Cloud commitment. Now: cnMaestro Cloud “will continue to operate on a go-forward basis” (Cambium, 2026-10-15), with no end date or terms. Before that: “Through at least October 2026, including support of the entire enterprise product portfolio” (Cambium statement, 2026-09-23). Cambium’s cnMaestro guidance post adds that the cloud “may not support Enterprise devices post the end of October, 2026” (Cambium Community thread 108849, first post, updated 2026-09-24).
  • What to watch next. Support, warranty, licensing and cnMaestro service terms from Cambium under Univastu; none are published as of 2026-10-19. Creditor questions about the old company go to Cambium.restructuring@rsmuk.com, not to us.

Cloud Anchor outage, 2026-10-02 to about 2026-10-06

Operators in Cambium Community thread 108849 (posts #195–#222) reported that the Cloud Anchor (the Cambium cloud service that On-Premises 6.0 checks with for licences and for adding or removing devices) stopped answering licence and device-claim requests from about 2026-10-02. On-Premises 6.0 logins hung and licence sync failed until it came back around 2026-10-06. It matters for Option 2: On-Premises 6.0 still depends on the Anchor to add or delete devices. Cambium says that if the Anchor is disconnected, on-premises “will continue to work, but you will not be able to add or delete any devices.”

The decision

Option by option: what it is, what it costs, who it fits.

Pick per product line, not per company. If you run a mixed estate, you might keep PMP 450 on cloud under Airspan, move Wi-Fi and cnMatrix to On-Premises, and budget a hardware refresh for whatever is already end-of-sale. If you don’t know what you have per line, start with the network audit, $1,250 per site: inventory with end-of-sale dates and a port/VLAN map, yours to keep.

Option 1

Stay on cnMaestro Cloud

Change nothing structural. For lines Airspan bought, that is a reasonable choice: Airspan says acquired products keep support in cnMaestro cloud and on-premises. For ePMP and the Enterprise lines it is now the simplest choice too: Cambium says the cloud continues on a go-forward basis. Just know you are relying on a statement without published service terms.

  • FitsPMP 450, PTP 670/700/450i/450V, cnWave and cnReach estates, per Airspan’s FAQ, and, since 2026-10-15, ePMP and Enterprise estates comfortable waiting for Univastu’s terms.
  • Does not fitAnyone who needs written service terms, or a management plane they control, before relying on it.
  • CostNo vendor charge today. The cost is risk: if the cloud stops serving your devices, you also lose the one tool that exports their settings and moves them to a new server in bulk.
  • Do anywayExport inventory, AP groups, WLANs and licence keys, and record per-device overrides. See Cambium firmware and licences: what to save.
Option 2

Move to cnMaestro On-Premises on hardware you own

Run cnMaestro On-Premises 6.0 as a virtual machine on a server you already own, or on a small mini PC you own (we can source it at cost + 15%), then repoint your devices to it (tell each one to report to the new server). New Cloud Anchor accounts get a 90-day cnMaestro X trial. At expiry, Cambium says on-premises instances “will degrade to Essentials” (the free tier), and that if the enterprise business is acquired, the buyer “will help you with an appropriate extension or replacement of trial.” It has now been acquired; Univastu hasn’t said anything about trial extensions as of 2026-10-19.

  • FitsWi-Fi and cnMatrix estates, and anyone who wants the management plane on their own network.
  • Does not fitNSE and RV22 (not supported on On-Premises), and Wi-Fi estates that depend on UPSK or social and Google/Azure logins in EasyPass, which Cambium lists as missing on-premises.
  • CostYour hardware plus engineering time. We bill the stand-up at $325/hr with a written estimate first; a stand-up runs 4 to 16 hours depending on device count and product mix, and the written estimate replaces that range.
  • TimingNo deadline today, but the move is easiest while the cloud is up: the cloud is what exports configs and pushes the new server address in bulk. cnMaestro on-premises migration runbook.

Cambium says: “Before the Cloud Anchor shuts down, we plan to release an on-premises image for Wi-Fi and Switches only, without any dependency on the Cloud Anchor.” No date has been given, and nothing had been released as of 2026-10-11.

Option 3

Hosted cnMaestro from a third party

Some integrators are offering hosted or managed cnMaestro On-Premises, at least one of them free for now. You swap Cambium’s cloud for a smaller provider’s. Hosting still runs on On-Premises 6.0, so the same Cloud Anchor dependency applies.

  • FitsSmall Wi-Fi estates with no server and no IT staff.
  • Does not fitAnyone who has to show an auditor or funder where the management plane lives, or who is here because a vendor cloud failed.
  • CostFree to a monthly fee, plus the migration, plus the next migration if that provider changes terms.
  • Ask firstWhere it is hosted, how often it is backed up, how you get your data out, and whose Cloud Anchor account the devices sit under.
Option 4

Replace the hardware

Retire the Cambium gear on a schedule and move to another vendor’s platform. This takes cnMaestro out of the picture, and it means new hardware.

  • FitsLines that were already end-of-sale before the collapse, such as cnMatrix EX1010, EX2010, EX2052 and TX2028RF-P (end-of-sale 2025-12-31, per Cambium’s lifecycle page), and estates already due a refresh.
  • Does not fitAn emergency. A rushed forklift replacement is how outages happen.
  • CostNew hardware, licences and the cutover work. If the firewall is part of the replacement, that piece starts at $6,500 or $8,900 depending on size; the assessment sets the fixed fee; hardware is quoted by part number. For fixed wireless, add RF planning and tower work, which we don’t do; your RF team or installer does.
  • Our viewStabilise first (Option 1 or 2), then replace on your budget cycle.

After the trial

cnMaestro X vs Essentials after the trial.

If you move On-Premises on the 90-day X trial and nobody extends it, the instance drops to Essentials. Here is what that means, from Cambium’s own pages.

What cnMaestro X adds over Essentials

Cambium’s cnMaestro X product page lists: APIs and webhooks; an MSP dashboard for managing multiple client networks; X Assurance analytics; Assists configuration checks; application control; one year of history for enterprise devices (two years for fixed wireless); and scale to 40,000 devices against 10,000 on Essentials. If you script against the API or run multiple tenants, plan for losing those at trial expiry.

What On-Premises 6.0 lacks, even on X

Cambium’s guidance post lists features not supported on-premises: Network Assurance, some EasyPass options (Google, Azure and social logins, and UPSK), MarketApps, and NSE and RV22 devices, among others. Check each against how you use the cloud today before you commit to Option 2.

Before you move

Migration gotchas, in one line each.

The detail, with steps and fixes, is in the cnMaestro on-premises migration runbook. Items marked “operator reports” come from Cambium Community posts, not from Cambium.

  • The cloud does the heavy lifting. Exports and bulk repointing need the cloud. Without it you change each device’s management server over SSH/CLI (scriptable, see community article 63164), or factory-reset devices onto a site where DHCP options 15, 43 and 60 point at On-Prem; either way, only while the Anchor answers.
  • Overrides. Cambium says to note per-device overrides (settings changed on one device that differ from its group) from Device → Configuration → Device Configuration, and points to Bulk Export/Import for Wi-Fi APs.
  • Switch port settings. Cloud 6.3 switch port configuration is not in On-Premises 6.0, so save it by hand. Operator reports in thread 108849 (#223–#225, 2026-10-08) say applying a switch group on-premises wiped per-port settings.
  • Captive portal. Pages can fail on the appliance’s self-signed certificate; Cambium staff point to Certificate Management in the 6.0 user guide (thread 108959, 2026-09-23).
  • Firmware. Downloads are limited to 10 files every 20 minutes (thread 109026, 2026-09-30). Pull what you need now, paced.
  • NSE. Still not supported on-premises. Cambium released an NSE 2.5 beta for NSE 3000/4000 with a full local web UI (thread 108960, first posted 2026-09-23, updated 2026-10-08).

Where we fit

We stand up On-Premises on your hardware. We don’t host it.

We work on the network side: the controller, configuration, VLANs, routing, DHCP, SNMP, firewall and Wi-Fi. We don’t do RF path or frequency planning, alignment, tower work, licences, RMAs, warranty claims or firmware distribution. The configs, exports and documentation we produce are yours to keep. Looking for help beyond cnMaestro? See independent Cambium support.

Stand-up

cnMaestro On-Premises stand-up

On your existing hypervisor or a customer-owned mini PC (we can source it at cost + 15%). Devices repointed, overrides re-applied, and a backup taken before handover. Time and materials at $325/hr, with a written estimate before work starts.

Assess

Network Risk Assessment

From $3,500 (one site, up to three switch groups (a stack counts as one), 100 connected devices and 6 access points; larger estates and WISP networks priced by size on our assessment pricing page). Covers which option fits each product line and what to export first.

Monitor

Continuity Monitoring for Cambium equipment

From $497/month; scope and onboarding quoted after an inventory. Monitoring only: alerts route to your team, no changes are included and there is no engineer response target. Any engineering work bills at $225/hr standard or $325/hr specialized, 1-hour minimum for remote work. Full scope on the Cambium monitoring section.

Later

Replacement on your budget cycle

When a segment needs replacing, we design and run the network side of the move. For enterprise Wi-Fi and firewalls our default is Fortinet; we are a Fortinet Engage Partner (Advocate tier) and run Fortinet networks as a Sacramento Fortinet MSP and a Fortinet MSP in San Francisco. Fixed-wireless RF design stays with your RF team.

FAQ

cnMaestro Cloud questions, answered straight.

What happens to cnMaestro after October 31?

As of 2026-10-19, Cambium says cnMaestro Cloud “will continue to operate on a go-forward basis” (2026-10-15, after Univastu completed its purchase of ePMP, the Enterprise business and cnMaestro on 2026-10-14). No end date or service terms are published, and Cambium has not withdrawn in writing its earlier warning that the cloud “may not support Enterprise devices post the end of October, 2026.” For lines Airspan bought, Airspan says it has no plan to discontinue cnMaestro. 2026-10-31 is no longer a date we plan around; keep your exports current instead.

Is cnMaestro end of life?

No end-of-life notice has been published. Airspan says there is no plan to discontinue cnMaestro for the products it bought. The 8-K says Cambium kept the cnMaestro software and licensed it to Airspan. The Univastu purchase of Cambium includes cnMaestro, and Cambium says the cloud will continue on a go-forward basis; no end date or terms are published as of 2026-10-19.

Will my access points stop working if cnMaestro Cloud shuts off?

Nothing Cambium has published says devices stop passing traffic when the cloud goes away. What is at risk is management: configuration changes, upgrades, onboarding and central visibility. Plan for losing those, not for losing traffic.

What is the cnMaestro Cloud Anchor?

It is the Cambium cloud service that cnMaestro On-Premises 6.0 checks with for licensing and to add or delete devices. If it is disconnected, Cambium says on-premises keeps working but you cannot add or delete devices. Operators reported it unresponsive from about 2026-10-02 to 2026-10-06.

cnMaestro X vs Essentials: what do I lose?

Cambium lists APIs and webhooks, the MSP dashboard, X Assurance, Assists, application control, longer history and higher device scale as cnMaestro X features. When the 90-day On-Premises trial ends without an extension, the instance degrades to Essentials and those go.

I have Airspan products and ePMP or Wi-Fi in one cnMaestro account. What happens?

Airspan’s FAQ says: “As of today, we can only commit to supporting the products that have been acquired by Airspan.” For ePMP, Wi-Fi and cnMatrix devices in the same account, Airspan points you to Cambium. Those devices now belong to Cambium under Univastu, which has not published support terms yet, so plan them separately from the Airspan lines.

Can someone host cnMaestro for me?

Yes, some integrators offer hosted or managed cnMaestro On-Premises. We don’t host it. We stand it up on hardware you own. If you go hosted, ask where it runs, how it is backed up, how you get your data out, and whose Cloud Anchor account your devices sit under.

No deadline, still worth doing

Have a cnMaestro fallback ready before you need one.

Time and materials at $325/hr, with a written estimate before any work starts. Our rough estimate for a typical stand-up is 4 to 16 hours depending on device count and product mix; the written estimate after we see your estate replaces that range. Not sure which option fits? Start with the network audit, $1,250 per site, then Continuity Monitoring from $497/month so you see outages while you decide.
